Practice Growth: Looking For The Silver Bullet

Years ago I was trading ideas with a well-known optometric consultant who made an interesting observation.

He said, "One of the toughest things about consulting with optometrists is teaching them to buy into an ongoing process.”

“So many ODs are looking for that one magic thing they can do to grow their practice. But, as you and I both know, there is no silver bullet!"

Success Is Never Just Doing One Thing

Here is what John Jantsch, publisher of the Duct Tape Marketing Blog for small business, ductapemarketing.com, had to say about Silver Bullets.

"Everyone wants to know the one thing they can do to get things going, the magic pill they can take, the one bit or advice from a guru that will turn the ship around."

"Truth is, business is mostly a bunch of hard work, done consistently.”

“However, there is one thing that every business can do that works in every instance — the one simple secret to guaranteed business growth."

Want to know what that is? "Find what’s working and do more of it.”

His basic premise is to figure out what your market wants and then focus all your energy and resources on giving it to them. I think you’ll enjoy reading the blog of this social marketing expert.

Hey Jerry - appreciate pointing out the Duct Tape Marketing blog to your readers.

That post on "doing what works" really struck a chord with my readers.

Seems as though in business and in life we spend most of our energy trying to fix what we don't think is working when the real payoff probably lies in being the best at just one or two things.
