employee eyeglass benefits
In a recent review of my employee manual I decided to change my policy regarding employee eyeglass benefits. I decided to offer $400 toward the retail price of a pair of glasses every 12 mos. Additional pairs would be at 40% off retail. Some of my optical staff felt they should be able to buy unlimited eyewear at cost and they should be able to solicit free frames and lenses from suppliers. As the business owner and the person with financial risk, I explained that freebies and discounts were extended to the business and not to employees. It is my decision as to how these discounts are distributed.
I understand that staff should be wearing great products but I am on the fence about how to fairly extend these benefits.
Any suggestions?
